Abstract

1420319 DC - DC converters FERRANTI Ltd 26 Oct 1973 [8 Nov 1972] 51567/72 Heading H2F [Also in Division H3] A push-pull transistor inverter of the transformer feedback type includes means responsive to the rise in current flowing through the conducting transistor when the transformer saturates to reduce the base current of the transistor. The large transistor current spike which normally occurs on saturation is thus avoided. In the D.C.-D.C. converter shown the current rise is sensed by a transistor Q 3 (or in Figs. 2 and 3 by an operational amplifier).
