Abstract
1525714 Inverters L B KARTHAUSER 13 Aug 1976 [18 July 1975] 30171/75 Heading H2F A transistor parallel inverter driving a constant voltage transformer has a drive and control circuit which terminates the power stroke of the inverter at a time dependent upon the current in the constant voltage transformer reaching a preset value after the onset of full saturation in this transformer. This preset current value, which may be varied, may be twice the current drawn by the constant voltage transformer before the onset of saturation. The current is sensed by a current sense resistor in the supply lead to the inverter or by a resistor incorporated in the inverter circuit itself, and the voltage across this resistor is fed to the drive and control circuit which comprises a level detector, such as a Schmitt trigger, together with bi-stable elements. After termination of the inverter power stroke inductive energy is circulated by free wheel diodes D1, D2 and surge protection is provided by diodes D3, D4, D5. The constant voltage transformer may be driven directly by the inverter or through a conventional linear transformer.
