Abstract
1525680 Mixing and circulating KUMAGAIGUMI KK 23 May 1977 21666/77 Heading B1C [Also in Divisions Cl and El] A trench stabilizing liquid or slurry for use in preventing the crumbling of a wall of a trench is solidified by a process which involves adding sodium silicate to the stabilizing liquid or slurry to form a liquid mixture, agitating and mixing the liquid mixture e.g. manually or by injecting compressed air, adding cement to the liquid mixture of the stabilizing liquid or slurry and sodium silicate, and then agitating and mixing the cement-sodium silicate-stabilising liquid or slurry mixture. The slurry is typically a bentonite aqueous suspension. Figs. 4 and 5 depict an arrangement of pipes 28 through the perforations 26 of which compressed air is injected into the slurry 24 in the trench 10 whereby to agitate and mix the slurry with the sodium silicate and the cement. The pipes are drawn upwards out of the liquid mixture before the gelation due to charging with cement commences. In the embodiment of Fig. 9, the air injection pipes 28' are embedded in the pre cast concrete members 36.
