Abstract

Bis-O-sulphamylglycols of the general formula I <IMAGE> are prepared by reacting a glycol of the formula II <IMAGE> with a sulphamyl chloride of the formula III (Hal)-SO2NR1R2 (III> in a solvent in the presence of a strong base. In these compounds, n is zero or an integer from 1 to 8, X and Y denote hydrogen, and if n is 1 additionally denotes lower alkyl radicals, aryl radicals, aralkyl radicals or cyclohexyl radicals. R1 and R2, independently of one another, are hydrogen atoms, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl radicals, or they form, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, a pyrrolidinyl ring or piperidinyl ring. Those compounds of the formula I in which all the radicals R1 and R2 are hydrogen atoms are also prepared by reacting a sulphamoyl halide of the formula III carrying a protective group on its nitrogen atom and, after the reaction, removing this protective group using an acid. The compounds of the formula I are suitable for regulation of the fertility of male animals.
