Abstract
1524688 Developing electrostatic latent images XEROX CORP 17 Oct 1975 [21 Nov 1974 (2)] 42674/75 Heading B2L Powder cloud development apparatus for latent electrostatic images, wherein a cloud of charged developer particles is introduced into the development chamber through a first part 138 in the chamber wall and air is introduced through a second port opposite the first. A baffle 130, extending between the walls is positioned above the ports. The apparatus is operable in either a positive or negative mode and includes a development electrode comprising a plurality of spaced parallel wires 162 but having an open section. The wires are driven by endless chains 164, 166. In the negative mode the electrode is driven past, and close to the plate 104, the wires being electrically biased by a commutatar strip 194. Brushes 190, 192 clean the wires. In the positive mode the electrode is stationary with the open section below the plate, and a positive potential applied thereto. Movable wiper blades 147, 149 clean the top of the baffle and the bottom of the chamber.
