Abstract
1524673 Centrifugal governor; fluid-pressure servomotor systems CAV Ltd 17 July 1975 [26 July 1974] 33029/74 Headings G3B and G3P The governor weight mechanism 43 of fuel injection pumping apparatus Fig. 1 has flyweights 61, Fig. 2, pivoted on a reaction member 62 which is supported in opposition to the governor spring 49 Fig. 1, by a resilient means, e.g. spring 67, Fig. 2, there being a dash-pot 66, 68, to limit the movement rate of the reaction member when the governor spring load is increased. Fuel supply to the injection pump is timed by valves 20, 22, 23, 24 in member 10 and is supplied from a feedpump 25, quantity being limited by the position of a shuttle 19 controlled by a piston 35 as determined by the position of a rod 41. The rod with weight mechanism 43 and spring 49 form a governor, manually settable by an abutment 51. The rod is positioned arially in balance between the centrifugal action of the weights and fluid reaction between it and a valve-member 48 so that flow to the injection pump is further controlled by cooperation between rod 41 and a metering port 55. Injection pump timing is controlled by movement of a servopiston 39 attached to the cam ring 13. The piston 39 follows the valve 38 which moves in response to the difference between pressures applied at its ends respectively from the feedpump and via conduit 45 from a port controlled by the rod 41.
