Abstract

152,397. Royse, G. C. July 8, 1919. Reinforced concrete. -Metallic bars a for reinforcing concrete are formed with concave portions or faces, ribs b, Fig. 11, and inclined webs or lugs. The webs f, e on one side of the bar are continuous and inclined in one direction, while the webs c, d, Fig. 8, are also continuous but inclined in the opposite direction, the two pairs or groups of webs being displaced longitudinally relatively to one another, as shown. The bar a may be formed with two or three ribs. In the latter case, the diagonal or inclined set of webs on one face are disposed in a direction opposite to those on the remaings faces, and are displaced longitudinally of the bar. The form of the webs is such that the cross sectional area of the bar is substantially constant throughout its length. The arrangements shown are stated to provide against any twisting tendency of the bar when embedded in concrete.
