Abstract

1523553 Hot gas engines UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO KB 21 Dec 1976 53306/76 Heading F1S The invention relates to a six-cylinder doubleacting hot gas engine in which the cylinders 1-6 are clustered around a major central axis 16 of the engine and there is a single central combustion chamber 23. According to the invention the six cylinders are arranged in two groups, each of three cylinders, the middle cylinder 2, 5 is nearer than the other two cylinders in each group to the major central axis, the pistons in the cylinders of one group are connected to a first crank-shaft (not shown) and the pistons in the cylinders of the. second of the groups are connected to a second crank-shaft (not shown) and the crank-shafts are constrained to rotate in synchronism with one another. There are six pairs of regenerator-cooler units 8, 9. Each cylinder and each regeneratorcooler unit has a top manifold 17, 18, 22 of arcuate form associated with heater tubes 7.
