Abstract

1447929 Hot gas engines UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO 17 Oct 1974 44955/74 Heading F1S The invention relates to a heater head of a double-acting hot gas engine comprising at least one assembly 22, formed by a plurality of tubes each extending between and connected to a pair of manifolds 24, 27, one manifold of the or each pair being connected to the upper end of an engine cylinder 23 while the other manifold of the or each pair is connected to the upper end of a regenerator 26 according to the invention each of the tubes consists of two limb portions 25 and an intermediate portion 28 the two limb portions being substantially parallel to each other and the two manifolds are at an angle to each other, the tubes being arranged in a regular series progressing from a first one which has the largest limb portions 25" and the shortest intermediate portion to a last one which has the shortest limb portions 25' and the longest intermediate portion. In a complete heater head as described there are four assembly units 22 annularly arranged.
