Abstract

1523532 Optic fibres COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE 7 May 1976 [9 May 1975] 18707/76 Heading G2J [Also in Division F4] An optical waveguide 15 extends between the focus 14 of a parabolic mirror 1, which is directed towards the sun, and a steam generator, (see Division F4). The waveguide comprises a rigid central portion 20 and flexible end portions 21. The rigid central portion is a single optical fibre comprising a sleeve of glass, e.g. calcium borosilicate, or plastics material, and a core of glass having a different refractive index from that of the sleeve, or liquid, e.g. bromobenzene or tetrachloroethylene. Alternatively, the central portion may be a glass rod having a uniform refractive index.
