Abstract

1522252 Sensor for sodium in amalgam SOCIETA ITALIANA RESINE SIR SpA 29 Oct 1976 [30 Oct 1975] 45124/76 Heading G1N A probe for determining sodium in a sodium/ mercury amalgam comprises a sodium betaalumina solid electrolyte 26 with the unknown material on one side and a sodium/mercury reference amalgam 24 on the other side and means (30, 34) contacting the amalgams. The reference amalgam is contained in insulating container 10, the solid electrolyte forming part of the wall thereof. The probe is preferably used for measuring sodium concentrations in the range 0À15-0À3 wt. per cent and the reference concentration is 0À01- 0À7 wt. per cent and differs by at least 0À05 wt. per cent from the expected sodium concentration.
