1520533 Electronic timepieces SEIKO KOKI K K 12 May 1976 [22 May 1975] 19549/76 Heading G3T In an electronic timepiece wherein a stepping motor is coupled to a seconds hand and has a coil M, Fig. 1, energized via a CMOS transistor bridge circuit Q1 to Q4 controlled by the complementary outputs of a frequency divider 3 an early stage of which is a dynamic frequency divider, the motor coil M is connected in series with a capacitor C o and is shunted by a normally open switch. Closure of the switch shorts the motor coil, thus stopping the motor and hence movement of the seconds hand for setting purposes. In Fig. 2, the normal driving current waveform is illustrated in line i and i' indicates the waveform of current flowing between terminals a, b when the switch is closed. It is demonstrated that integration of the respective current waveforms shows that the current consumption is the same in both cases. A crystal controlled oscillator feeds the frequency divider 3 the remaining stages of which may comprise a binary counter.
