Abstract

1378400 Alarm timepieces DAINI SEIKOSHA K K 30 Nov 1972 [9 Dec 1971 17 Dec 1971] 55297/72 Heading G3T An alarm watch incorporates a Piezo-electric buzzer alarm and a driving circuit therefor which is energized at predetermined times via a switch SW (Fig. 4) operated by the watch timing mechanism. The Piezo-electric element 3 is mounted on an inner back cover-plate 2 and an outer back coverplate 1 is provided with an annular row of holes. DRIVE CIRCUIT OPERATIONWhen a capacitor C 1 charges to a value in excess of the threshold of a diode D, a transistor T r is caused to conduct current through a coil half La inducing a voltage in Lb which is fed back via C 2 to the base of T r . The circuit begins to oscillate at a resonant frequency determined by L and C 2 and oscillation continues until C 1 is completely discharged so that Tr will turn OFF and the oscillation stops. The cycle is then repeated until switch SW is opened by the timing mechanism. The oscillation frequency preferably conforms to the resonant frequency of the Piezo-electric element 3, the element 3 being driven by the voltage across the coil.
