Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a large effect on economy in power consumption by bringing the clock circuits of an electronic timepiece into a reset state. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 5' is in the closed circuit state, the output of an inverter 6 has a low potential. Therefore, a reset signal R is nonactive. On the other hand, when the switch 5' is open-circuited, said condition is maintained until a signal phi becomes a high potential, and the moment the signal phi becomes a high potential, the potential of the output of an NOR gate 7 becomes low, while the potential of the output of the inverter 6 becomes high. Therefore, the reset signal R becomes active. Said reset signal R is applied to not only the second functional circuit 2 comprising a post-frequency dividing circuit, a waveform shaping circuit, a control circuit and a motor driving circuit but also the first functional circuit 8 comprising a frequency dividing circuit which inputs the output of an oscillation circuit 1 and the like, in order to economize in electric power.
