Abstract
151,995. Ernst, E. U. G. Oct. 2, 1919, [Convention date]. Atmospheric gas burners.-A valve device actuated by placing a vessel on a gas cooking-stove is constructed so that the gas supply and consequently the size of the flame is automatically adjusted in accordance with the size of the bottom of vessel. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the top of the stove is inclined at 13 so that a small vessel stands at a lower level than a large one and causes a larger depression of a slidably mounted burner 12 acted on by a spring 9. The bottom of the burner has a perforated plate 6 adapted to cooperate with a fixed valve member 10 to restrict to a greater or lesser extent the flow of gas admitted through a pipe 7. The burner may be manually depressed by a crank 20 engaging a loop 21 attached to the burner. In a modification, the valve member is carried by the burner, which is constructed so as to vary the air supply simultaneously with the gas supply. In a further modification, a gas cock is operated by a lever engaged by the edge of the vessel or by a series of rods of varying length engaged by the bottom of the vessel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which the top of the stove is flat, and the burner tube is moved by a lever having an inclined end engaged by the edge of the vessel. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
