Abstract

1519864 Antistatic coating layers AGFAGEVAERT AG 6 Aug 1975 [8 Aug 1974] 32847/75 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] In a process for the preparation of a slidable antistatic backing layer for a photographic material, a mixture of a polymeric electrolyte, an aqueous dispersion of polyolefine particles measuring less than 0.5Á and a mixture of water and organic solvents which are miscible with water is applied to the side of the film material remote from the light-sensitive coating. Suitable polymeric electrolytes are an alkali metal salt of polyacrylic or polymethacrylic acid or their copolymers; a copolymer of maleic crotonic or itaconic acid; carboxymethyl cellulose; cellulose acetate; cellulose phthalate; cellulose acetate phthalate; polyvinyl acetate, poly vinyl phthalate; polyvinyl acetatephthalate; cellulose sulphate, cellulose acetatesulphate, polystyrene sulphonic acid; an acetal of polyvinyl alcohol with benzaldehyde sulphonic or disulphonic acid or butyraldehyde sulphonic acid; a polycondensation product of napthalene sulphonic acid with formaldehyde; a poly-addition product of a diamina sulphonic acid with a diisocyanate or a salt of a vinylpyrridine - homo polymer or copolymer. The substrate can be of polyethylene terephthalate or cellulose triacetate, polystyrene, PVC polycarbonate.
