Abstract
151,953. Lancia & Co. Oct. 3, 1919, [Convention date]. Laminar springs.-A shackle pin for vehicle springs, or a pin for pivotally connecting a spring with the vehicle comprises a hard bronze stud 3 formed with recessed ends to receive the hollow stems 4 of heads 5 which are secured on a central bolt 6 by nuts 7 bearing against springs 8 in the stems 4. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the stud 3 connects the eyes 2 of a spring with an eye 1 on the frame, and is lubricated through passages 12 leading from a wick lubricator 11. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement in which the invention is applied to shackle pins. In this arrangement, oil passes from a lubricator 11 through a passage 12 in the fixed eye 1 into recesses 14, 15 in the upper stud 3 from which it passes to the lower stud through passages 16 in the shackle plates 13. The studs 3 are prevented from turning by pins 10, and washers 9 are placed between the eyes 1, 2 and shackle plates 13.
