Abstract
1518647 Multiplexing arrangements for data transmission SIEMENS AG 18 March 1977 [23 March 1976] 11638/77 Heading H4P An arrangement for controlling multiplex operation between a first unit Z and a plurality of second units K to Kn comprises an input multiplexer EM which serves to transmit, via lines EL, input parameters from the units K1 to Kn to the unit Z; an output multiplexer AM which serves to transmit, via lines AL, output parameters from the unit Z to the units K I to Kn; and a drive circuit (Fig. 5, not shown) for controlling the multiplexers EM and AM in such a way that the input and output of information respectively to and from the first unit Z can overlap in respect of different ones of the second units K. Thus, following the selection by the input multiplexer EM of a first one of the second units, the unit Z outputs information to this first one by way of the output multiplexer AM, and before the action of multiplexer AM is complete, the input information from a second one of the units K can be connected to the unit Z. Thus, the unit Z can commence its activity in respect of the second unit K immediately on completion of its operation in respect of the first unit K, whereby waiting times which can arise in the unit Z are reduced.
