Abstract
1518521 Thermometer covers J R NAUMANN 17 April 1975 15874/75 Heading G1D A one piece, tapered disposable sheath for a temperature sensing probe has a closed end of thin material, e.g. plastics, whilst the thickness of material of the remainder of the wall is greater to provide a substantially rigid body. The sheath may be stepped 11c, 11d as shown, and the thickness of end depression 12 is preferably not more than 0À002 inch and that of wall adjacent depression 12 not greater than 0À012 inch. The sheath may be manufactured by injecting plastics through an orifice having a diameter from 0À007 inch to 0À21 inch between a tapered mandrel and a cavity. Withdrawal of the mandrel while the plastics is moldable draws down the wall thickness adjacent the sheath tip to fully close the smaller end.
