Abstract

1518410 Solid fuel hot water boilers SOC D'ETUDES ET DE CONSTRUCTIONS DE CHAUDIERES EN ACIER 24 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 39767/76 Heading F4A A boiler for hot water comprises a solid fuel hopper 20 which feeds a water-cooled grate 23 along which fuel is pushed by a water-cooled mechanical pusher 21, primary and secondary fans 62, 61 delivering low pressure and high pressure air to below and above the grate, and a series of heat exchange units (Fig. 2) 30, 40, 50, 60 having at least one lower water inlet 64a and two upper water outlets 65a, 65b; the action of secondary fan 61 being controlled so as to be prolonged beyond the action of the primary fan 62 to burn up combustion gases when the boiler is turned off. The heat exchange units include portions, e.g. 30a, 40a of adjacent units which are arranged close together. Two gas outlets are provided at 60a, 60b.
