Abstract

1518239 Centrifugal filter DE DIEDRICH & CIE SA 10 Dec 1976 [12 Dec 1975] 51571/76 Heading BID A centrifugal filter comprises a solidwalled rotary cone 3 enclosing one or more filtering sleeves 1, acceleration cones 7, 8, 9 which deliver mixture to be filtered from pipe 6 to the sleeves and an axially reciprocating pusher assembly 2 which moves the filter cake along the sleeve(s) to outlet 5, cone 3 directing filtrate to outlet 4 and the whole being enclosed by housing 10, which can be filled with non-reactive gas (nitrogen) at increased or reduced pressure or filled with live steam for sterilising. The construction excludes vapours from the mixture from the bearings 12 and ensures that mixture impinging on sleeves 1 is moving at the same rotary speed as the sleeves. Upper and lower halves of Fig. 1 represent two alternative constructions, and Fig. 2 (not shown) represents two more. Cake washing pipes (not shown) may be included.
