Abstract
Urea, or salts thereof, are obtained by gradually adding a powdered cyanamide salt, such as calcium cyanamide, to an acid which is vigorously stirred throughout the addition; suitable acids are sulphuric, phosphoric, or carbonic acids. When using carbonic acid the later stage of the reaction is greatly facilitated by the addition of sulphuric acid.
