1515784 Gaskets GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE AG 6 Feb 1976 [7 Feb 1975] 04776/76 Heading F2B A cylinder head gasket comprising a sheet 2 of porous fibrous material, e.g. asbestos, with through passages 5 for combustion chambers, lubricant and coolant and having the whole or part of its faces impregnated with, e.g. polymeric material, is characterized in that the distribution of the impregnating agent 8 through the cross-section of the sheet is the same adjacent some or all of the surfaces 6 bounding the through passages 5 as it is in other impregnated regions of the sheet, as a result of the bounding surfaces 6 having been covered with a protective coating 7 before the impregnating of the sheet 2. The protective coating 7 may be of synthetic resin, rubber, waterglass or plastics foil. The gasket is shown in the embodiment with metallic reinforcement 4.
