Abstract

1534088 Gaskets GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE AG 2 Sept 1976 [6 Sept 1975] 36450/76 Heading F2B A flat gasket comprises a layer 1, 2, of fibrous and/or porous material, with at least one of its principal surfaces impregnated with an agent 4 which has been hardened, and having one or both surfaces coated with a layer 5 of thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic layer 5 may be of wax, may be in the form of a foil cemented to the gasket, and may contain cross-linking promoters. It may have a thickness of between 0À005 and 0À2 mm. The embodiment is a cylinder head gasket of asbestos with a metallic reinforcement 3 and outer layer 5 of paraffin wax with a dripping point of 130‹ to 135‹ C. The gasket is said to improve the sealing of a cylinder head during the running period immediately following installation.
