Abstract
1515638 lonization chambers COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 5 March 1976 [7 March 1975] 08862/76 Heading H1D An ionization chamber comprises elongated probe body 2, base 1, collector volume 3, measuring electrodes including collector electrode 12, and flexible tube (14) (Fig. 2) for gas circulation connected to supply and evacuation connectors (4a, 4b) which pass in a leak tight manner through the base, the measuring electrodes being connected by electrical conductors 10, 2a to electrical connectors 5, 6 screwed in a leak tight manner to the base. Base 1 comprises, pedestal la, insulating sleeve 1b and flange 1c forming sealed chamber 1e. Tubular metal casing 2a is fitted on an insulating mandrel 8 which is screwed into pedestal la and grease fitted to the casing. Collector volume 3 casing may be an electrically conducting plastics material. Earthed electrode 12 is protected by shield 16 extended by tube 16a screwed into the base. Neutron detection and Co<SP>60</SP> exposure are mentioned.
