Abstract

The effectiveness of an earthing electrode 2 is monitored by inserting a further electrode 1 into the ground some distance away, connecting a voltage source 30 between the two electrodes and monitoring (34) the current flowing. The source 30 may provide both d.c. for cathodic protection of electrode 2 and a.c., at a frequency different from the mains, for monitoring purposes. <IMAGE>
