Abstract

1515367 Two-part couplings ASHLEY ACCESSORIES Ltd 22 May 1975 [9 April 1975] 14487/75 Heading H2E An appliance (e.g. a kettle) connector comprises a case having a fore-portion 1 of heat resistant insulating material housing contacts 6, 7 connected by terminal portions to lead wires 18, and a rear portion 14 of synthetic plastics moulded on to the insulation 17 of the lead wires. The fore-portion is a hollow cylindrical body divided internally by a Y-shape web (2, Fig. 1, not shown) into three chambers (3, 4, 5) each receiving a socket contact; the web includes hollow pillars 8 which support a plate 9 having apertures (10) aligned with the pillars 8. The rear portion 14 is moulded around the insulation 17 extending through the apertures (10) into the hollow pillars at 15 and around a step (12) on the periphery of the plate 9 at 16. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the rear portion is moulded with a skirt (22) or equivalent fingers which snap fit over projections (21) within the fore-portion.
