Abstract

1515090 Actuation of switches HAZEMEIJER BV 23 July 1976 [24 July 1975] 30896/76 Heading H1N An electrical switch contact driving mechanism, in which the switch contacts are closed by a tensioned spring mechanism, comprises two springs 1, 2, which bear at their one ends against a support 16, 19, and at their other ends against respective flanges 3, 5 supported on an activating shaft 4 movably guided by the support, the activating shaft being coupled to a system of rods 25, 30, 35, through which it operates the contacts, the springs 1, 2 being coil springs arranged coaxially with respect to each other, and released at different times during contact closing to produce a predetermined operating force characteristic, Fig. 4, not shown. Spring 1 is released first by release of lever 21 by latch 26 and acts directly on the shaft 4 to start the contact closing operation. The other spring 2 acts on the shaft 4 via a system of bushes incorporating a ball-notch coupling comprising a number of balls 8 seated in holes in a bush 6 on the shaft 4, the shaft having a groove portion 9 into which the balls can drop to release a second bush 10 and release this spring 2 at a point in the travel of the shaft when it adds its force to the first spring 1. Shaft 33 directly drives the contacts and is linked to the activating shaft via links 25 and 30 and crank 32. The springs 1, 2 are tensioned by manual or motorized rotation of a cam 20 which moves shaft 4 via lever 21 until lever 21 is latched by latch 26. Opening of the contacts is effected by displacement of latch 41 to release plate 38 which rotates under the action of a switch-off spring, not shown.
