Abstract

151,465. British Thomson-Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). Sept. 17, 1919. Electro-magnetic switches for alternating currents. In order to minimize chattering while the switch is held closed, the armature 11, Fig. 1, is loosely mounted on the pivoted switch arm 5 by means of a pin 15 attached to the arm and passing through a slightly larger hole formed in the armature, the hole being reduced at the middle point of its length. A second pin 14 passing through a hole which is larger than the pin throughout its length completes the attachment. The armature is laminated, as shown in Fig. 3, and the switch arm is pivoted at 6 and carries a resiliently mounted contact member 9 co-operating with a stationary contact S.
