Abstract

1514439 Donning and doffing drums; winding and unwinding TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET LM ERICSSON 15 March 1977 [19 March 1976] 11008/77 Heading D1T In the drum supporting apparatus shown the distance between the arms 4 and 5 is adjustable by displacement means 14 carried by the arm 5 and acting on the arm 4. The vertical setting of the drum supporting spindles 8 and 11 is adjustable by means 7. A cylinder 22 acting on a piston rod 23, is used to move the arms 4 and 5 transversely as a single unit to a desired setting. When used for unwinding purposes a brake 10 acts on spindle 8. When used for winding purposes the spindle 8 is driven and the beam 2 carries means for traversing a cable being wound. By lowering the parts 6 of the arms 4 and 5, and then moving the arms 4 and 5 apart a drum may be doffed and the apparatus made ready for the donning of a fresh drum.
