Abstract

1514411 Colour television INDESIT INDUSTRIA ELETTRODOMESTICI ITALIANA SpA 16 Jan 1976 [17 Jan 1975] 01836/76 Heading H4F PAL chrominance signal demodulator comprises a PAL one-line-period-delay decoder 1, 2,3, 5, the R-Y chroma signal being fed to a pair of synchronous demodulators 6 and 7, Fig. 1, and the B-Y chroma signal to synchronous demodulators 8 and 9. With no phase error in the two phase quadrature subcarrier signals from subcarrier generator 11 (supplied by burst gate 4) which are fed to each pair of demodulators, the outputs of the demodulators of each pair are equal. If there is a phase error then the differences between the ouputs of the demodulators of each pair are used to control a phase displacement device 14 in the feedback loop of generator 11. The colour difference signals R-Y and B-Y are derived by adding 18 and 22 the outputs of each pair of demodulators. The phase error controlling signal is derived using peak detectors 20, 21, 24 and 25, adders 26 and 27 and differential amplifier 28. The circuit includes -45 degrees phase shifter 13, -90 degrees phase shifter 17, + 90 degrees phase shifter 15 and PAL switch 16. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, two subcarrier generators 11 and 11<SP>1</SP> are used, the lower part of the circuit being substantially the same as the lower part of Fig. 1, and the operation of the upper part being the same as the lower part once the switched phase inverter (PAL switch) 16 has neutralized the periodic phase reversal of the signal R-Y.
