Abstract

1512320 Pipe joints BRIDGESTONE TIRE KK 6 Oct 1976 [7 Oct 1975] 41462/76 Heading F2G A flexible connector 1 for joining two pipes 2 with end flanges, comprises a rubber-like elastic cylindrical body 3 having two metallic flat rings 4 disposed parallel with each other and embedded in the body 3, the rings 4 having bolts 5 attached thereto, by means of which they may be secured to the pipe flanges, and the body 3 being provided on its outer peripheral surface with a circumferential groove 6 which is arcuate in section. Values for the radius R of the groove 6 are given in the Specification. In an alternative construction the rings 4 may have cylindrical extensions by means of which they may be welded to plain pipe ends, and in a further construction (Fig. 4) three rings 4 are embedded in the body 3 and the pipe flanges 17, 18 are provided with overlapping yokes 10 having elongate holes 12, 13 therein and interconnected by a pin 14 so as to limit movements of the connector 1. Plates 15, 16 are also provided these having aligned holes 19, 20 through which screw threaded bars (not shown) may be introduced to enable the connector to be compressed to facilitate its insertion between the ends of the pipes 2.
