Abstract

The pipes or tunnel linings are made up from a number of cylindrical sections bolted together end-to-end. Each cylindrical section consists of three circular segments (1), plus two similar but shorter segments (2), with a keystone (3). At one end of each segment, a nut (A) is welded to a tube embedded in the concrete. The other end of each segment is provided with a recess (e, 2a, 2b) for access to a bolt which screws into the nut of the opposing segment. The keystone member (3) has a nut on each surface. Recesses (2d) are provided for access to the holes (2f) for bolts for joining the cylindrical sections together.
