Abstract

1511909 Drying panel bricks INST FUR ZIEGELFORSCHUNG ESSEN CV 30 July 1975 [30 July 1974] 31915/75 Heading F4G An apparatus for drying large bricks 1 comprises a chamber divided into zones (5), see Fig. 2 (not shown) which are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the direction of movement of a conveyer 3 for the bricks 1, reversible blowers 13 for passing air through the zones each of which has a heater 14, and means for controlling the temperature, humidity and flow rate of the air delivered to the zones. The conveyer 3 moves on rails 8 and carries roller tracks 9, and has sealing 18, 19 and partitions 20. Air is passed in series through the zones, see Fig. 3 (not shown) by means of the blowers 13, which, with the heaters 14, may be regulated to control the air temperature &c., and the air flow may be reversed. The zones are series-connected in two groups by operating slides (6), and the direction of the air through the group at the entry end of the chamber is the same as the direction the conveyer moves, and in the group at the exit end is contra to the direction the conveyer moves, see Fig. 3. It is stated that the conveyer may be arranged vertically, e.g. as a paternoster.
