Abstract
1511739 Controlling converter steelmaking CENTRE DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES-CENTRUM VOOR RESEARCH IN DE METALLURGIE 24 Nov 1975 [28 Nov 1974] 48140/75 Heading C7D In a converter steelmaking process employing oxygen blowing through a submerged tuyere the blowing is terminated when the intensity of sound emitted from the converter reaches a level corresponding to the desired carbon content of the bath, that level being determined from a predetermined relationship between noise level and carbon content which may have been obtained by statistical analysis of previous operations in the same installation. Intensity is preferably measured in the frequency range 20-13000 Hz, particularly < 100 Hz.
