Abstract

1511124 Cycloaliphatic amines BAYER AG 23 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 02663/76 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Cycloaliphatic amines are prepared by hydrogenating an aromatic amine at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of a supported ruthenium catalyst wherein the catalyst support comprises hydroxides and/or hydrated oxides of chromium and manganese and/or their dehydration products. Preferred aromatic amine starting materials have the general Formulµ (I) to (V) wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>, R<SP>9</SP> and R<SP>10</SP>, are each hydrogen or alkyl, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are each optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, R<SP>6</SP> and R<SP>7</SP> are each alkyl, A is optionally substituted alkylene, and m, n and p are each 0 or 1. The invention further comprises compounds of the formulµ wherein R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are alkyl or hydrogen, and the compounds 4,41,41-triamino-tricyclohexylmethane, and 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- diamino - 3,3<SP>1</SP>,5,5<SP>1</SP> - tetraethyl-dicyclohexylmethane.
