Abstract
Three electroconductive layers (4, 2, 4a) are present, the third layer (2) being present between the two outer layers (4, 4a) as an interlayer which consists of conductive particles and binder, the conductivity of the interlayer (2) being determined by the amount of particles. This interlayer can be used as a heating element for heaters, e.g. of rail points, or for welding plastic webs or pipes. This coating can further be used for protection against short circuits in the event of vessel leakage, for electrical discharge in order to avoid electrostatic charging, for conducting electrical currents to transmit signals or actuate switches, and for the optical display of heated insulator layers whose colour depends on the temperature. <IMAGE>
