Abstract
151,090. Smith, J. H., Brand, R. H., and Leith, T. G. June 17, 1919. Belts comprise driving-links 3 connected by single thick metal links 6, Fig. 3, or by doubleended hooks 8. The links 3 comprise side plates 1, 1<a>, Fig. 1, with roughened surfaces to which slabs 3, 3<a> of rubber are vulcanized, the plates 1, 1<a> being connected by pins 4. The plates are bent over at 2 and embedded in the rubber. To obtain maximum driving-surface, the links 3 have square shoulders 13, Fig. 2, adapted to butt against their neighbours when the belt is straight, and cut away inside corners 9. The hooks 8, which are readily detachable, are deepened at their middle parts 10.
