Abstract
151,080. Tarrant, H. J. June 13, 1919. Crushers with vibrating jaws; cracking nuts.- Relates to machines of the kind described in Specification 1839/14 and particularly to (1) means for giving an intermittent rotation to the roller after the nuts have been fed 'between the roller and the jaw and before the crushing begins, and (2) means for controlling the feed of the nuts. (1) The roller 21 is intermittingly driven at the required time by an eccentric 38 on the driving-shaft 3 by means of an arm 39 and a pawl-lever 41 carrying a pawl which engages a ratchet 43 on the roller axle. Backward movement of the roller is prevented by a detent pawl 44. (2) The nuts are fed into the hopper 30 by an endless band 49 carrying transverse bars and forming the bottom of a supply hopper 50. The band is intermittingly driven by a belt from the shaft of the roller 21. When the usual shutter 28 opens to deliver to the crushing-jaw the nuts which have accumulated behind it, the flow of nuts from the hopper 30 is prevented by a supplementary shutter 46 operated by a tail 48 on the shutter 28.
