Abstract
150,931. Huwyler, L. Dec. 23, 1919. Horse-boxes and cattle-trucks.-A skid or gangway 8 is normally housed under the floor 1 of a railway vehicle, but when drawn into the outboard or loading position, rollers on the rear ends are made to travel up an inclined slotted guideway 18, 19 so that the end of the skid attached to the vehicle is level with the floor. When the skid is in the inoperative position, it is locked by hooks 9 on a shaft 11 provided with an operating-handle. In moving the skid into the position for the loading and unloading operation, the front rollers 7 engage levers 28, 26 to operate a lever 21 pivoted at 22. The end 23 of the lever 22 is thus lowered and forms a guide for the rear rollers of the skid into the inclined slot 18 in the member 6. When these near rollers engage the cushioning-spring 30, the rear end of the skid is level with the floor 1, and it is secured in this position by the ends 39 of levers weighted at 40 and provided with arms. 45 against which abut locking- members 43 on a hand-operated shaft 44. To move the skid back to its position under the vehicle floor, the ends 39 of the weighted levers are first moved from the trackway 18, 19 by the operation of the shaft 44.
