Abstract
1508811 Reciprocating motors THOMSONBRANDT 11 July 1975 [12 July 1974] 29345/75 Heading H2A In a light deflector for use within a servoloop and comprising a mirror 2 and a coil 5 mounted on the moving part 3 of a moving coil galvanometer movement, an elastic filament 9 of relatively large cross-sectional area is stretched so as to permit its insertion in a duct 4 of relatively small cross-sectional area in the part 3 and thereafter allow to release so that it resiliently engages the duct wall, the ends of the filament likewise being engaged in fixed supports 22, 23 so that the part 3 is mounted for rotation about the duct axis XX with the coil 5 lying in the magnetic field provided by fixed polepieces 11, 12 and 16, 17. Such a structure may have a low moment of inertia and a low fundamental resonant frequency with negligible higher resonances. The filament 9 may be of an elastomer or rubber, and together with duct 4 may have a circular or square cross-section. The part 3 is of non-magnetic material and may be a hollow cylindrical or parallelepipedal vessel with the duct extending longitudinally thereof the centre of the base. The deflector may be used when optically reading video discs.
