Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize an objective lens driving device, by applying the magnetic field to a magnetic material unified with an objective lens from two directions orthogonal to each other and thus correcting both a tracking error and a time base error. CONSTITUTION:An objective lens 11 is held by a holding frame 12 of a nonmagnetic material, and a magnetic member 13 is fixed to the frame 12. The both ends of the member 13 are set opposedly to the N and S poles of an L-shaped permanent magnet 14 respectively. Coils 15 and 16 are wound round both ends 14a and 14b of the magnet 14. When the current is flowed as shown in the diagram, the member 13 receives the force shown by arrows (y) and (x). For instance, a tracking error signal is supplied to the coil 15, and a time base error signal is supplied to the coil 16 to correct the tracking and time base errors respectively.
