Abstract

150,829. Blichfeldt, S. H., and Kruse, H. June 11, 1919. Propelling; steering.-In locking-apparatus for any moving part of a motor system, of the kind in which the engine ignition circuit is simultaneously broken, a cylindrical bolt a, Figs. 1 and 2, is rotated by a key k so that one of the cams d on the bolt may engage in a groove s in the steering- column b or other movable part. The bolt also carries a metal ring c provided with radial contacts f, by means of which the two conductors g forming part of the ignition circuit may be electrically connected. The ring e is insulated from the bolt a and the conductors g are mounted on an insulating-block g<1>. The apparatus is enclosed in an enlargement c' of the casing c of the steering column. To prevent the bolt from being turned except by the key, a retaining spring or springs h, engaging with a slot across the end of the bolt, must be pushed out of engagement, by the key. A switch, similarly operated by the key, may be used instead of the contacts on the bolt.
