Abstract
1507974 Piston and cylinder surfaces GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 5 March 1975 [5 Dec 1973] 56302/73 Heading F2T A sintered metal bearing liner is formed on the sliding surface of a piston or cylinder of a swash plate pump by inserting powdered lining material into an annular space between the surface 15 and a mould 16, deforming the mould and heating to sintering temperature. Subsequently the mould is machined away. The powdered material may be a copper-lead powder or an iron-copper-aluminium powder. The sliding surface 15 may be copper plated prior to lining and the mould 16 may be a copper tube which is deformed by a ball 18 or hydraulic pressure.
