Abstract

1298856 Pistons DEMAG AG and CARL HUTH & SOHNE 10 March 1970 [12 April 1969] 11516/70 Heading F2T A piston 1, e.g. for a reciprocating compressor, comprises spaced rings 4 of self-lubricating material, e.g. P.T.F.E., located in grooves 7 of piston portions 5, 6 the rings 4 being expanded by heat generated during operation to contact a counter-running surface 2a. The rings 4 are moulded from granulated synthetic resin around a metal insert ring 9, e.g. of T, I, U or circular section, notches (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), around the insert 9 facilitating anchorage of the resin during sintering, e.g. under pressure in a moulding die. The piston portions 5, 6 are detachably positioned adjacent a further portion 1a bearing a guide ring 3 for co-operation with the surface 2a of a cylinder 2.
