Abstract

1507402 Viscometers SOC DE LA RAFFINERIE DE LORRAINE 3 March 1976 [5 March 1975] 8510/76 Heading G1S [Also in Division F2] A needle 19, Fig. 4, which may be reciprocated in a capillary tube of a viscometer to clean its bore, is attached to a rod 22 and piston 31, compressed air being supplied alternately to ducts 34, 35. The whole needle apparatus is mounted on the top 23 of a heated oil bath and a special sealing arrangement 38 is provided (see also Division F2). In Fig. 3 (not shown) the needle is replaced by a rod having a small brush (20) at its end. The viscometer capillary tube 4, Fig. 1, is supplied from a pipe 1 through a filter 2 and is immersed in oil 10 heated by a coil 8 and circulated by a paddle 9, the capillary having its pressure drop measured by members 3, 5 connected to recording apparatus 11. A thermometer 6 is also provided. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a needle (19) is provided above the capillary tube 4 so that it may be guided by a P.T.F.E. joint (18) into the tube.
