Abstract

Alkylene cyanhydrins are prepared by treating alkylene halohydrins with aqueous cyanide solutions while cooling to prevent decomposition of the product; in an example ethylene cyanhydrin is prepared from ethylene bromhydrin and aqueous potassium cyanide.
