Abstract

1506004 Separating particles from gas L J PIRCON 28 April 1975 [6 May 1974] 17479/75 Headings B1R and BIT Apparatus for removing solid and/or liquid particulate pollutant from gas comprises casing 10 having one or more zones which comprise an impingement plate 131 or 132 below one or more nozzles 121. The cross-sectional area of inlet end of a nozzle 121 is 2 to 12 times that of the outlet end and the mean angle of convergence (A) is 8-18‹. The bottom of casing is provided with an outlet for discharging pollutant and clean gas outlet 116. The apparatus may comprise a demister 117. Nozzles 141-144 may spray liquid or solid into the gas stream to enhance agglomeration of the pollutant particles to be removed from the gas and nozzles 145-148 may spray liquid onto the plates 131, 132 to keep them clean.
