Abstract

1,107,459. Gas scrubber. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A.G. 12 Aug., 1966 [14 Aug., 1965], No. 36280/66. Heading B1R. Gas to be scrubbed is introduced at 1 into a chamber 2 of circular or polygonal crosssection and sprayed with liquid from nozzles 5 before entering a convergent-passage 11 the outlet end of which is baffled' by a axially movable pan 18 of circular or polygonal shape whereby the size of the flow channel for gas leaving the passage 11 can be varied. The passage 11 and pan 18 are surrounded by annular plates 9 and 10 respectively which define a divergent flow passage into which liquid from the pan 18 can overflow. Scrubbed gas leaves the chamber 2 by an outlet 4. In a modification the axis of the chamber 2 is horizontal.
