Abstract

1505514 Pivot mountings CIBIE PROJECTEURS 23 May 1975. [25. June 1974] 22807/75 Heading E2F [Also in Division F4] A motor vehicleheadlamp is adjustably mounted in the vehicle body 12, 14 by three fixing mechanisms in triangular formation around the lamp with two on opposite sides of the lamp defining a transverse axis Y and the third being actuable to adjust the lamp inclination about this axis. One of the side mountings is shown and comprises a retaining member 30 slidably mounted in a channel 52 and secured by a screw 32 to the bodywork 14. An abutment member 34 has a socket 64 in which is received a resilient olive pivot 62 held on a lug 60 projecting from the reflector 16. The abutment member 34 is held in place by a hook end 46 of a resilient finger 45 on the retaining member 30. The third mounting assembly comprises a simple screw and nut arrangement for tilting the lamp about the pivoting side mountings on the axis Y. Such tilting may be effected automatically as the vehicle attitude varies. The olive shape of the pivots provides stop surfaces to limit the angular displacement:
